John Green has now become a well-known author and an expert in many young adult novels.

His book Looking for Alaska was a critical jumpstart to his writing career. Now one of his more recent novels, The Fault in Ours Stars, is hitting the big screen.

The Fault in Our Stars was published in January 10, 2012. The name for the book was inspired by the line in Julius Ceaser, in which Cassius says to Brutus, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.”

The story is told by protagonist 16 year old Hazel Grace Lancaster, who has been diagnosed with cancer since the age of 13.

Hazel has loving supportive parents who care for her needs. At heart, Hazel is an introvert with only one friend who she rarely speaks to which is why her mom often sends her to a support group in hopes that Hazel will make friends.

One day Hazel meets Augustus Waters and is struck by not only his handsome appearance but also his intelligence. A journey unfolds between the two with many bittersweet feelings and obstacles that include Hazel’s state of health.

John Green’s captivating book pulled readers into an emotional ride with heartfelt words.

In 2012 the rights for the film were bought by 20th Century Fox films. The movie is set to be released summer of 2014 staring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort playing the roles of Hazel and Augustus.

After seeing the release of the trailer many fans and critics predict massive success from the book adaptation.
