Homecoming 2017

          The 2017 Homecoming game was played against Richardson Berkner, Thursday, October 19th.  Velton Gardner accounted for 318 yards and four touchdowns to lead Skyline to a comfortable District 9-6A victory at John Kincaide Stadium.  Tailback DaKerrius Lewis added 131 yards and a touchdown.

          Berkner cut the deficit to 37-29 with 1:59 remaining when Nick McLemore passed 12 yards to Keilahn Harris.  Skyline recovered the ensuring onside kick attempt.  Lewis gained eight on 3rd and 1 to ensure the victory.

          The difference in the contest was Skyline's defense.  The Raider defense was a force to be reckoned with.  Berkner (2-5, 1-3) racked up 220 yards in the first quarter but was unable to do much against the Skyline defensive front thereafter.  "I am really proud of our Raider defense," said quarterback Velton Gardner.

          The final Skyline Homecoming victory over Richardson Berkner was 37-29.  This victory led to great things for the Skyline Raiders.  The Raiders moved up on the area charts and Coach Roberson was named winner of the Week 8 Dallas Cowboys Whataburger Coach of the Week award.
