Skynet -
Season 3: 2017-2018
Skynet is a news broadcasting system provided by the Audio Visual Cluster. It all starts with the script that is written and placed on a teleprompter so that the host can read it. Each segment is prerecorded the week before.
According to senior Steven Salazar, Skynet broadcasting is a step by step process. "Seniors do the weather, week-in-review/day-in-review, and library segments. The underclassmen have different scheduled routines. Now that Skynet is everyday, the staff tries to keep it around 10 minutes long for a total of 50 minutes a week.
Everyday previews a different segment according to Skynet's schedule or calendar events. Week-in-review is shown everyday due to the day to day national holiday events. Even though it's everyday, the recording process is all in one take and edited to be shown the following day.
The weather segment is planned and organized by Steven Salazar. Weather spots are presented a little different from the other segments. "To receive a more precise temperature in the following week, I usually write the scripts on a Thursday and either record the same day or the Friday after, said Steven. The weekly forecast is presented on Mondays.
