#1 Donald Trump Presidential Inauguration

Following the contentious 2016 presidential election, Donald J. Trump is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States of America. Trump gave his inaugural address during the 58th U.S. Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2017.

#2 Manchester Terror Attack

Ariana Grande performs at the One Love Manchester benefit concert for the families of the victims of the May 22, Manchester terror attack, at Emirates Old Trafford in Greater Manchester where Grande was performing on June 4, 2017. 22 people were killed and several others injured in the suicide bombing.

#3 Mueller Investigation/Russia Election Investigation

#4 Summer of Hell

Commuters exit a train at Pennsylvania Station on the first morning of long planned track repairs at the station, one of the busiest in the nation on July 10, 2017. Commuters throughout the New York area dealt with long delays and the use of alternate forms of transportation as the number of trains into Manhattan were drastically reduced for summer work.

#5 Harvey Weinstein | #Me Too | Sex Abuse Claims

Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman and co-founder of Weinstein Co. was accused of sexually harassing and assaulting several women in Hollywood and NYC. This led to the birth of the #METOO movement where women shared their accounts of sex abuse/harassment. Many other allegations surfaced in the wake of the Weinstein scandal and led to the firing of many high-profile men including Matt Lauer, Charlie Rose and Mario Batali.

#6 Hurricanes Irma, Harvey & Maria

It was a 1-3 punch this summer. Category 5 Irma battered the Caribbean and was a hurricane from August 31 until September 11. Category 4 Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas on Aug. 25 and left massive flooding in its wake. Several Caribbean Islands were devastated by Hurricane Maria but none as bad as Puerto Rico. Parts of the island are still without power two months after the monster storm made landfall and knocked out the island's power grid.

#7 Solar Eclipse Visible Across Swath of U.S.

On August. 21, it seemed like the entire world stopped to gaze at the sun.

#8 Las Vegas Shooting

#9 April the Giraffe

Before an online audience of more than a million viewers, April the 15-year-old giraffe, gave birth to a male calf Saturday, April 15, at the Animal Adventure Park in upstate NY, ending weeks of proverbial pacing by animal lovers in a virtual worldwide waiting room. At least 1.2 million people watched the Adventure Park’s YouTube streaming of the event.

 

#10 North Korea & 'Rocket Man' Kim Jong-Un

President Trump's war of words with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, as well as North Korea's testing of nuclear ballistic missiles made headlines throughout the year and had the world on edge.
